Drawing on the insights of ecofeminism, these collaborations with photographs I took of my pregnant self 13 years ago, explore the ethos that sanctions oppression based on race, class, gender, sexuality, physical abilities, and species. It is the same ethos that allows and perpetuates the oppression of nature. Investigating the relationship between human beings, the natural environment, and nonhuman animals in this moment of radical patriarchal power grabs to control women’s bodies, we see a clear relationship between animal suffering and the oppression of women. But people who are able to give birth are magical and sacred. And we will never stop fighting for our rights to our own bodies.
