Walking To Work
Around the time the iPhone came out Chase Jarvis coined the term "The best camera is the one you have with you." Walking to work is a project that embraces that notion. I began the project on my first day at a new job in 2008. Using my iPhone I photographed the 5 blocks from subway to lobby on my morning commute on a daily basis for the first 6 months. It was my first corporate job and shooting even that small amount kept me sane.
I find the patterns on the street mesmerizing. Even though there is little included in each frame, the changing weather, what people carry and wear, are indicators of a specific time and place, of different classes, nationalities, and ages, all starting their day in Midtown Manhattan.
