In The Liberator, photographic portraits inspired by the subversive, absurdist paintings of René Magritte investigate the paradoxical notion that physical limitations can create a sense of emotional freedom. Manipulating motifs of bondage and liberty while obscuring gender and nationality I endeavor to release the subject from the burden of identity.
